Slik Sprint Mini ll GM Tripod Handling & Performance
The Slik Sprint Mini II GM is certainly lightweight and small enough to get in a camera bag, I carried it around the Highlands in my bag alongside a Nikon D3000 as well as my Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II and 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lenses. Setup is easy, although can take a little while to unclip all the leg sections and extend, there is no weight in the legs to help them extend so it needs to be done manually. The quick release plate means that you save time by being able to quickly attach your camera.
It's certainly worth noting that if you have back problems, you may find this tripod hard to use, as you need to bend over to look through your viewfinder. You'll be OK if you have a camera with a tilting screen and can use live view, if not, the pro version extends to a more comfortable 1.6m.

If you like to take pictures of subjects which are extremely close to the floor the Slik Sprint Mini is ideal. By unscrewing the centre column in the middle, you can quickly switch your camera to be underneath the traditional position and by adjusting the legs you can set it to get as close as your lens allows.
Value for money
The Slik Sprint Mini II GM tripod is a budget travel tripod, available for £54.99. The pro version, which has a maximum height of 1.6m, is available for £64.00. Other lightweight travel tripods to consider include the Hama Traveller Mini Pro at £19.95, Hama Traveller Compact Pro at £35.00, Manfrotto MKC3-P02 Compact at £36.95, Giottos MT9340Bat £64.95 and Benro A0180T at £79.99.
